Radial Shockwave Therapy
Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT) is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This therapy is particularly effective for chronic musculoskeletal conditions that haven’t responded to traditional treatment methods.

What do we commonly treat with Shockwave?
RSWT is highly effective in treating a wide range of conditions, including:
-
Plantar fasciitis
-
Achilles tendinopathy
-
Patellar tendinitis (jumper's knee)
-
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
-
Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis)
-
Rotator cuff tendinopathy
-
Calcific shoulder tendinitis
-
Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS)
-
Gluteal tendinopathy
-
Hamstring strains
-
Shin splints
-
Chronic trigger points
-
Scar tissue and fascial adhesions

How does it work?
Radial shockwaves are pressure waves generated pneumatically and transmitted through the skin to the affected area. These waves increase blood flow, break up scar tissue, and stimulate cellular repair by activating the body’s natural healing processes. On a cellular level, shockwaves promote neovascularization (new blood vessel formation), reduce inflammation, and help to disintegrate calcifications. Additionally, the mechanical stimulation provided by RSWT can decrease pain by overstimulating nerve endings, a process known as hyperstimulation analgesia.
What should I expect for my first treatment?
-
Initial Consultation: We evaluate your condition to determine if RSWT is appropriate for you.
-
The Procedure: A handheld device delivers the radial shockwaves to the affected area. Treatment typically takes 5–10 minutes per region.
-
Sensation: You may feel mild discomfort or pressure during the treatment, which is adjusted to your tolerance.
-
Post-Treatment: Some soreness or redness is normal and usually subsides within 24-48 hours.
Most patients benefit from a series of treatments:
-
Frequency: 1x per week
-
Duration: Typically 4–6 sessions depending on the severity and chronicity of the condition
